T'Pal was relieved that the hit on X'aedell Kelan, daughter of Karagh of the House of Torath was stopped. She had never felt comfortable with it and was disturbed. The idea that she might have killed an innocent played on her mind more than she had anticipated. During the Dominion war she had to kill one prisoner to free 17 more, and that was not the only time she had to do similar things.
Her next hit took her to DS5, the big space station on the edge of the Federation territory. She was in a transport for nearly a month. When the station loomed up in front of them she was pleased, not that she displayed emotion much. The unusual Vulcan Klingon hybrid's face remained impassive, but that didn't mean she didn't have emotions. Her Klingon heritage brought with it inherent aggression and rage and a myriad of other emotions, but she had learned to use her Vulcan mental abilities to channel and control them.
She had also decided to make this maze her base. As far as Starfleet was concerned she simply resigned and her record would place her mostly above suspicion of any illegal activities. In any case, if ever anyone investigated, they would find most of her history as classified. Over the years she had made enough contacts in Starfleet Intelligence and other covert agencies to have enough work to keep her busy and her credits balance increasing steadily. Between them and private contracts, she would have enough to do. Something in her will miss the discipline of being an officer, but she would adapt.
After her arrival, it didn't take long for her to get a room in the same range of guest quarters or *hotel* as some called it. She replicated some civilian clothes and after a long shower, relaxed in the lounge area, while studying her target
