DeForest Kelly Humour Award |
This award is meant to help us all remember that a bit of light-heartedness goes a long way; even in the face of danger. DeForest Kelley was as much a comedian as he was an actor of the 20th century. Therefore, this is as much a tribute to him as it is an award to any recipient. This award can be given to any player in Obsidian Fleet. |

Friendship Ribbon |
For the development of a meaningful character relationship. The friendship may be either with an NPC of the player’s own design or with another player character or another Player’s NPC. The friendship should be an unfolding story over the course of multiple posts and impact the character(s) lives significantly. (*romantic relationships not included- please refer to the “rose award” in those instances) |

Awarded to the crew member that writes supreme battle posts, making their posts enjoyable and exciting to read in the heat of battle. | |

Awarded for the best writing style: clear, precise, and easy to follow - yet allows the story to flow smoothly and easily passed off to another crew member. Also includes spelling and grammar used properly. | |
Markmanship Ribbon |
For recognition of firearm abilities. | |
Most Improved Player of the Month |
This award will be given to the player that shows the most improvement from the previous month. | |
Meritorious Newcomer of the Month Award |
This award will be given to the newcomer that makes themselves known and puts in the most effort to make their character a valuable addition. | |

Obsidian Fleet Distinguished Service Cross |
Awarded to a member of the crew that has been with the ship for 3 months. This award is non-cumulative. (Now discontinued, but as current players have been allocated this award, it remains in service) |

DS5 7 Year Service Order of Merit |
Awarded to crew members who have served on the ship for Seven years. This award is non-cumulative. | |
DS5 6 Year Service Order of Merit |

Awarded to crew members who have served on the ship for Five years. This award is non-cumulative. | |

Outstanding Volunteer Award |
For the player who makes every effort to find significant ways to lend a hand to the sim’s command staff. | |
Plot Development Citation |
For developing the current plot line and making it original and unexpected yet not unbelievable. | |
Professional Merit |
Awarded to the character that has developed his/her character with considerable talent, making that character a joy to interact with. | |
Purple Heart |
Awarded to personnel who are injured in the line of duty. | |
Recruitment Award |
For recognition of recruitment successes. | |
Rose Award |
Awarded to the crew member that has made significant "romantic" character advancements. | |
Service Accomodation |
Awarded to the crew member that performs his/her character`s job and advances above and beyond the job description they were "hired" to follow. | |
Silver Star |
The crew member that demonstrates supreme postings, posts often, and plays his/her character "to the hilt" will receive this award. Arguably considered one of the highest honours a crew member can receive. | |
Technical Medal |
Awarded to the crew member that follows the technical standards of the Star Trek universe, incorporating them into their posts with nearly flawless precision. | |
Training Badge |
For completing and passing a course of study. | |
Unit Citation |
Awarded to the crew member that shows considerable talent in working with other crew members to create a winning plot line worthy of the vessel`s reputation. | |
Unsung Hero Medal |
For recognition of support actions in character. | |
Whoopi Goldberg Diversity Ribbon |
Awarded for the successful portrayal of a non-human character aboard a simulation. | |
Antagonist Award |
This award denotes a players exceptionally well crafted villain contributed to a sim’s plotline convincingly over a series of posts. We love to hate the bad guy or the sinister mind plotting against our heroes. With out these dedicated evil, twisted, or simply misguided souls setting out against our protagonists, there might not be much story to tell! (Include sample post.) |

Community Service Citation |
This Crewmember is always going out of his or her way to help the crew connect with one another and knit the sim much closer together Awarded to anyone who makes a constant indisputable effort to be welcoming to new players and encouraging to long standing members. |

Creativity Award |
The Creativity Award is presented to those who come up with an outstanding idea during a mission. This can be in battle, a diplomatic meeting, medical crises, or even during a shore leave. There is no exacting criteria for the qualifications of this award. Sample posts are required. |

Departmental Service Badge: Command |
Awarded for service in the command department, including departments of Command, Strategic Operations, Flight Operations, and Communications. A player is eligible for the service badge of their department through commitment to their department over a period of time on the sim that the CO feels significant. (Each departmental badge can only be awarded once per character.) |

Departmental Service Badge: Marine |
Awarded for service in the Marines. A player is eligible for the service badge of their department through commitment to their department over a period of time on the sim that the CO feels significant. (Each departmental badge can only be awarded once per character.) |

Awarded for service in the science department, including departments of Science, Medical, and Counseling. A player is eligible for the service badge of their department through commitment to their department over a period of time on the sim that the CO feels significant. Awarded for work in the service department, including departments of Operations, Security, Tactical, and Engineering. Departmental Service Badge: Support |
Awarded for service in the science department, including Intelligence, Diplomatic, SF Fighters. A player is eligible for the service badge of their department through commitment to their department over a period of time on the sim that the CO feels significant. Exemplary Courage Medal |
Officers who put themselves in grave danger by going far beyond the normal call of duty qualify for this medal. Examples would be protecting a group of trapped/injured persons from enemy aggression; staying behind to ensure that the rest of the unit gets to safety and are not followed. NOTE: To achieve this award, the person nominated cannot simply be following their superior`s orders. They must volunteer to carry out such acts. Sample posts are required. |

Flying Cross |
Presented to a Flight Control Officer for exhibiting outstanding flying abilities. While not absolutely necessary, people who receive this award typically have to fly their ship manually either in battle situations or emergencies. Sample posts are required. |

Geneva Peace Ribbon |
This ribbon is presented to individuals who were responsible for attaining a peaceful resolution between two conflicting parties. The recipient may either be single-handedly responsible, or have played a large part in the negotiations. The conflicting parties does not have to be Star Fleet. The Geneva Peace Conference was a milestone in Terran diplomacy. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the events for which the award is being sought for is. |

Humanitarian Cross |
In recognition of efforts to relieve suffering of any person(s) within or outside of federation borders. (Please explain in detail reasons for nomination.) |

Intelligence Prowess Award |
This award is given to an Intelligence Officer who has gone out of their way to protect and better Obsidian Fleet. This could be from uncovering a spy, obtaining pertinent information which protected their own ship, Task Force, or Fleet as a whole, etc. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the situation is required. |

Joint Service Commendation Medal |
Awarded to StarFleet/StarFleet Marine Corps personnel who participate in a major joint mission with other simms. A minimum of 4 simms must participate to qualify. No sample posts are required, just a list of which simms took part in the joint mission and a general overview of the mission. |

Kublai Khan Award |
This award is presented to an individual who is a key part of developing new tactical combat manoeuvres while in hand-to-hand combat; not to be confused with the ship-to-ship award, which is similar. Kublai Khan was a great Terran Chinese military strategist and warrior of the 13th century. Sample posts are required. |

Medal of Honour |
This medal is awarded for the showing of bravery and valor in the heat of combat. Recipients of this Medal can serve in any department. Sample posts are required. |

Montgomery Scott Engineering Award |
(Formerly Engineering Ingenuity Award) This is given to those who develop useful new technologies, Engineering-oriented upgrades, techniques and so forth. Creativity and innovation are attributes that help to earn this award. (NOTE: To keep ships believable, these improvements should not be anything too drastic or long-term.) Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the situation is needed. |

Patterson Ribbon of Excellence |
This is issued to StarFleet`s Medical officers who do something very special in the field. This can be awarded for curing a disease or medical condition, or for finding a new disease or ailment. Dr. Colin Patterson was a 21st century Terran physician from Scotland who specialized in the study of bone diseases. Sample posts are required. |

POW Ribbon of Sacrifice |
Given to StarFleet officers who are captured by enemy forces for any length of time. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the player`s captivity is needed. |

Ribbon of Commitment |
Given to a person who has truly put forth an indisputable amount of extra effort. This is referring primarily to out of character circumstances. Recruiting, pulling the crew together, posting, helping to fill in the "gaps", and helping maintain their ship`s website are just a few of the things that could count toward this award. Truly, this is one award to cherish when received. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the events for which the award is being sought for is. |

Ribbon of Compassion |
This ribbon is for those in the Counselling field. The awardee must have truly gone out of their way to help out a fellow crewman/crewmen. This encompasses more than just a couple of counselling sessions. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the entire situation is required. |

Ribbon of Merit |
This ribbon is used to symbolize the great sacrifice that the men and women of StarFleet endure. These officers often pay the price for defending the very principles of the United Federation of Planets. A player must receive a Purple Heart in order to qualify for this ribbon. Those who cannot perform their normal duties aboard their location of service due to ongoing medical conditions and wounds (both which must have originated in service) are eligible for this ribbon. Sample posts are not required, but a detailed description of the events for which the nomination is being presented is. |

Scheherezade Award |
Named after the mythical heroine of the Arabian Nights, the Scheherezade awards the intricate story-crafting which is displayed within Obsidian fleet. This goes beyond simple matters of spelling, grammar, and legibility; rather, it is for the obvious effort put into posts to make them enjoyable to read for all members of a platform and not just as enjoyment for the writers who created them – for telling a tale within a tale as they weave their own story within the greater plot of their SIMM. | |
Tactical Superiority Award |
Presented to individuals who play a major role (or even solely) develop new tactics and/or combat manuevers while in ship-to-ship combat; not to be confused with the hand-to-hand award, which is similar. These must prove to be very efficient and worthy of much attention. An example would be the Picard Maneuver. Sample posts are required. |

Tour of Duty : Breen |
This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the sim to the borders or interior regions of Breen space. | |
Tour of Duty : Cardassian |
This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the sim to the borders or interior regions of Cardassian space. | |
Tour of Duty : Deep Space |
This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the sim to deep space. | |
Tour of Duty : Ferengi |
This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the sim to the borders or interior regions of Ferengi space. | |
Tour of Duty : Klingon |
This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the sim to the borders or interior regions of Klingon space. | |
Tour of Duty : Romulan |
This ribbon is issued to all participating players at the end of a mission that posts the sim to the borders or interior regions of Romulan space. | |
United Federation of Planets Pip |
Only a very few and elite people have ever attained this prestigious honour. To receive it, a person must single-handedly save the Federation from imminent destruction. This could be a great number of things. Over ninety percent of the individuals who receive this pip died in the process of qualifying for it`s standards. This is a special pip which is to be worn opposite the ones already on an officer`s collar. This tiny pip has the emblem of the UFP on it. Sample posts are required. |

Zefram Cochrane Medal of Exploration |
Given to those officers who discover a noteworthy place or thing. This could be anything from a new and strange planet or moon, an abnormal nebula or subspace distortion, ancient ruins of a civilization long past, or anything else of this nature. As any Academy graduate should know, Zefram Cochrane was the first Terran to accomplish warp speed. Sample posts are required. |

James T. Kirk CO of the Year |
This award is given annually in January of each year and is decided upon by nominations from Task Force CO`s and Task Group CO`s. One CO is chosen from the nominations received. Reasons supporting the nomination are required, but post samples are not. | |
Role Player of the Year |
This award is given annually in January of each year and is decided upon by nominations from ship CO`s. Post samples are not required, but reasons for the nomination are. Posts should be available upon request, though. | |
Sim of the Month |
This award is given to the fleet Sim of the Month. | |
Sim of the Year |
This is used to recognize the Obsidian Fleet sim which has done their very best to embody the spirit of the Fleet in their actions both in character and out of character. | |
Unit Award of Merit - Bronze |
For Exemplary Service by a SIM as recognized by the Unit’s TGCO. This Award is handed monthly out on a basis of Merit. One Unit from each Task Group will be recognized for their over-all participation and posting quality. |

Unit Award of Merit - Silver |
For Exemplary Service by a SIM as recognized by the Unit’s TFCO. This Award is handed monthly out on a basis of Merit. One Unit from each Task Force will be recognized for their over-all participation and posting quality. |

For Overall Exemplary Service by a SIM as recognized by Awards Department. This Award is handed monthly out on a basis of Merit. One Unit over all will be recognized for their over-all participation and posting quality. |

Distributed Quarterly, this award recognizes the efforts put forth by a Commanding Officer; as recognized by his fellow crewmembers, Task Group CO and - ultimately - Task Force CO. | |

Distributed Quarterly, this award recognizes the efforts put forth by a Crewmember; as recognized by his fellow crewmembers, Task Group CO and - ultimately - Task Force CO. | |
William Riker XO of the Year |
This award is given annually in January of each year and is decided upon by nominations from ship CO`s. One XO is chosen from the nominations received, to receive the award. Post samples are not required, but reasons for the nomination are. | |
