When the computer showed the young ensign what time it was, he couldn't quite believe it.
Six hours ago , He was shooting spitballs at the Romulan Computer core. He was at wits end until one of his projectiles accidentally knocked over his data crystal collections of ancient earth vids. When he picked up one of them he recalled was his favorite spy movie.
He stood up with a mischievous gleam in his eye as he looked at the entry to the mostly empty storage bay adjoining him. Three hours ago, with spare parts from multiple departments, the local club with the only other holosuites available, and his know how was able to generate solid images .
One hour ago, Rioan had managed to setup something slightly larger than the average holodeck equipped with all of his best scientific scanners , analyzers and environmental controls . He had toyed with this idea for a while in order to have a scientifically geared artificial reality simulation with the best holo technology can offer..
In the past hour, Rioan checked and double checked that his 'hololab' had a stand-alone option where it would have a 72 hour backup oxygen and power supply to run in case the lab had something that could harm the rest of the station.
Mellar Rioan had created the ultimate clean room. He smiled as he started making adjustments so he would be able to hook up the Romulan Core into the system in conjunction with a particular program.
Preparations were ready as Rioan hit the replicator for a particular garment.
Once satisfied he hit his combadge.
"Mellar to security, could you send someone to Science lab 2. I may need help feeling ..more secure?"
Kivan stepped through the sliding doors with his gear in tow just as the communique was sent. "Do we expect to have that much trouble in examining the core?" He said as he looked around the situated room. His eyes settled on the Core before him. At the Academy, he studied about Romulan Computer Operations; however, he never had the opportunity to view a genuine and active device.
"Is that the actual Core?" He asked as he stared in awe as he walked around the holo-lab, not really certain what was real and what was just a projection.
Rioan nodded with a smile.
"My idea is to use the hololab here to assist in cracking the security on the thing by overlaying the cores security protocols into a holonovel I have some experience with. By getting through the holonovel, we get through the core ideally. Now I have this room set up as a stand alone so we won't interface directly with the station core. That does only leave me at max 72 hours to try this then the aux power system I designed for it flatlines . You are here in case this core has any surprises, such as mucking with the safety protocols or trying to access the station systems. I may need assistance getting out."
Ensign Ta'Gas stepped towards a nearby console while looking towards the Science Officer. "If this thing explodes, the Chief is gonna kill me, and that's assuming I survive this!" Ensign Ta'Gas stated as he started to monitor the power outflow for the fabricated hololab.
"So what do we do first?" Ensign Ta'Gas asked.
"We will be in the holonovel 'The Ministers of Defense" We will take the parts of Agents Hunt and Muldaur assigned to stop a cyber terrorist attack on a NATO missle base somewhere near easter island. The antagonists cohorts are a set of identical triplets called the flag brothers and their boss is simply known as Gage. the flags represent the prime 3 layers of encryption in the core. We defeat them the computers will simultaneously start brtoeaking into the core.
Rioan stopped and took a breath as he handed the ensign a small duffle .
"I was able to get the replicators to design 2 phasers comlink and a tricorder to look like 20th century equivalents. badges, jerhico 911 pistols and what they called smartphones."
He began to activate the program as he continued. "Now the translation program between the core and the program. The flaggs and gage will probably sound like a cross between romulan and binary code if this works.....You ready to save the world Muldaur?"
