Fox had just left the Security office where he reported to Commander Gabriel and was now on his way to Sick bay for his physical. The Star base was huge. So many people, everyone going somewhere. The environment reminded him of a big city. Many interesting people but, not the one person he was looking for. He began to project his thoughts hoping to greet her but, figured that she probably would not have.

Fox reached sick bay and entered looking for the Doctor on duty. A doctor was sitting at her desk going over reports. Fox stuck his head in her door. "Excuse me Doctor, My name is Fox, I am a transfer. Would now be a good time for my initial physical?"

Chelsea, having just come on duty at 2pm, had started with a ward round and hadn't really got far into doing the reports so she wasn't too fussed to leave them so soon.

"Sure Lieutenant Fox" she said, reading his rank from his collar.

"Medbay 1 should be free" she stood up and walked out of the office across to the first medical bay, patting the biobed with her palm as she went to the back of the bay and lit up the console, setting it to the program for New Personnel Check-overs.

"Park yourself up on here please" she observed as he appeared to be hesitating beside the bed.

Derick sat on the edge of the bed then swung his feet up and began to lay down, straightening out his body.

Already with a med scanner in her hand, alight and bleeping, she had begun from the top of his head even as he was still lying on the bed. Her arm moved deftly with him as he settled himself back.

"Anything you wish to declare?" she said lightly, smiling at him in an attempt to relax him. "Medical wise of course, if it's about how your wife doesn't understand you, that's the Counselor's department over the corridor." Her grin widened to indicate another attempt at humor to make this easier.

Oh, the things that I have seen, Doctor. I plan to see my Counselor soon. I appreciate your attempts at humor, Doctor but, I have no humor and I don't laugh.

"None at all?" Chelsea was astounded. As far as she was concerned, a little light humor was as essential to life as breathing. It was a rhetorical question however, since the Lt had already said he didn't laugh and shrugging she dropped all attempts to lighten the mood.

"I quite often find people can be a little nervous of their physicals, especially the Initial ones, although i don't know why, as we never do *injections* like the ancient days or any other painful or archaic procedures." she commented as she completed the whole body scan and downloaded the results by passing the hand-held scanner over the appropriate receptors on the end of a padd.

"By anything to declare, I meant any contact with infectious disease in the recent past, any recent illnesses of any kind and any history that might be relevant to you medical records for the present or future treatment we might offer?" she explained.

None in the past couple of years. Before that, more than likely. I have seen more death and suffering than I care to remember. I have had to kill more than I care to remember. I have learned to shut myself off from emotions until recently. Sitting up abruptly, "Only she can help me......" Derick said, barely audible.

"Is there anything else, Doctor?" Derick stood.

"Er, no. You're all clear." Chelsea finished her notes on the padd and handed it to him to take as his copy of his clearance.

"I couldn't help but overhear you refer to someone you want to help you. You can tell me to mind my own business if you like, but who is the *she* you were referring to?" she asked, sensing it was an important issue.

"My soul mate, Doctor. The only person in this universe that can help me. She is here, on DS5. She left because of me." Derick's face became drained as unhappiness began to overcome him...........

"Good day, Doctor." Derick left with out making eye contact with the Doctor.

Chelsea didn't press it any further. It clearly upset him and it wasn't her business to pursue it.

"Good afternoon, Lieutenant, I hope you find what you're looking for." she replied, but doubted if he had heard her, or anyone, as he left.
