Beg, Steal or Borrow – Doing things the Klingon way
by Klingon Ambassador Toran of the House of Moqrhat & Lieutenant T'Pal
ON:
After leaving the Rapier and spending some time with Aryen, C'raghen and Aakan, Na'shara made her way to Transporter room 4A on SB47. She had received a message that the HeD'not had arrived and she was to report for duty. Her belongings would be transported directly and she only carried only her knife in her belt and a padd. As she walked in she wordlessly handed the coordinates and orders to the Starfleet transporter officer on duty and stood on the padd. "Energize" she said. Her new life had begun.
After the female warrior materialized on the HeD'not, she greeted the officer awaiting her. "I am Na'Shara of the House of Torath, Take me to the Ambassador," she commanded.
The officer raised a brow slightly, ~She has been among those Fleeters too long.~ Turning he addressed the crewman next to him, "tlhap Na'Shara la'ra'wI' Toran jawjoH."
[Take Commander Na'Shara to Lord Toran.]
"lu'qaH."
[Yes Sir.]
The crewman turned sharply and led the way to Toran's quarters. Once they arrived he pressed a panel next to the door. "Na'Shara la'ra'wI' legh tlhIH wIj jawjoH."
[Commander Na'Shara to see you my Lord]
"'el!" Was Toran's only reply.
[Enter!]
Toran stood as the woman entered, handing a padd to his aid who bowed slightly before exiting the room. Toran appraised her carefully as she approached. Her uniform was perfectly in order, as was expected. She appeared to be in good shape despite 2 years on a Federation ship, not to mention that she was attractive and at a ripe age for marriage. She would no doubt find herself pursued my many under his command. The though raised a brow as a union between Moqrhat and Torath would unite two great Houses of the Empire and would make Moqrhat more powerful than... Pushing the thought aside he indicate a seat before him. "Sit Commander." Raising the bottle on the table, "Bloodwine?"
As she entered her eyes followed the retreating aide for a few moments before she approached the Ambassador. She could feel his eyes on her, but her study of him was conducted with respectful subtlety. Authority and power eminated from him, comparable with that what she had seen in Mu'rgh, the head of her own House. Even sitting down she could see he was a large man, physically n peak condition. she lowered herself in the offered seat and crossed her shapily legs. "Yes, thank you Ambassador," she said her tone indicating respect, but it was not subdued though.
"You are no doubt curious as to why I requested you instead of choosing
an officer from my own House."
"I am indeed," she admitted as she took the trinket from him, inhaling the aroma from the bloodwine. "Surely you have more *experienced* officers avaliable and you take a risk appointing a woman," she said frankly and straightforward.
"He is the garrison commander for the 2,000 warriors assigned to this little operation." He didn't fail to notice her reaction...not the placement of her hands, whether that in itself held any meaning he could only guess at this point. "While you both old the same rank, you will technically be his superior officer as the vessels First Officer. In order to maintain proper discipline I would like to know to what extent
you both are 'acquainted' with each other."
His question was reasonable and she took a sip of bloodwine before she
answered. "Discipline will not be compromised," she stated resolutely. "I will not allow any personal relatiosnhip to interfere with my work, it will be dishonourable to you and and to my House. He has expressed interest in me," she said without arrogance, but her inherent pride made it sound as if it was to be expected that prominent males would be interested in her.
The hint of a wry grin as she explained the nature of her 'relationship' with his troop commander. His bothers son would be a fool if he had not 'expressed interest' in the woman before him. But what impressed him the most was that way she worded her assurance that whatever relationship existed; duty, Honor, and Loyal to Commander and House came first. "You're House has taught you well. In two sentences you covered all the aspects of the teek googk[Heart of Virtue], it is good to see
traditions upheld in someone so young." There was only a slight pause, then he added with subtle smirk. "Unless you are just trying to impress the boss as it were."
"It will be foolish to try to impress you," she said with a subtle smirk of her own. "You would see right through it," widening it slightly. He was everything and more she had expected and appraised him subtly through her lashes.
Toran showed now reaction to her 'appraisal', but he grinned inwardly. After emptying his goblet he returned it to the table. As he did so his aid returned to the room. "My Lord our guests have been shown to their quarters. And their effects stored in the cargo bay."
"Very well. And Da`nal's 'gift'?"
"Behind you, on the ledge. My lord."
Extending his arm as he turned in his chair slightly his aid moved to retrieve the weapon. Once in his hand he nodded towards the door. "You may go. Have an appropriate morning meal prepared for our guests, myself, and Commanders Na'Shara and Loktor. Inform Ral'nath's aid of the arrangements."
"Immediately My Lord."
Toran returned his gaze to Na'Shara as his aid hurried off. Handing her the blade, "What is your opinion of the blade?"
First her eyes glided appreciatively along the sloped cutting edge of the blade, then it met those of teh Ambassador briefly as if she was looking for a clue as to the reason for the question. Her hands weighed the balance her fingers traced the edge. The fact that it had left a then dark line on her finger evoked no reaction from her, in fact it was to be expected. "This weapon is exquisitely balanced, forged with care and expertise and with I'owq steel.. light and very strong.." she tilted the blade, letting the light catch and slide down it's shape, over the crest edged in it. "It was made for someone ...specifically the type of gift a man would give a female, but a small one..." she rendered her opinion. "This is indeed a remarkably beautiful weapon."
Nodding at her appraisal of Da`nal's craftsmanship. "Once it s 'presented' I want you to enginer an encounter with its receipiant. I'm not so much interested in her skill but your overall impression of her as an individual. A persons true nature is revealed quickly in combat."
"That is true," Ns'Shara said, her curiosity piqued. "I will do that with pleasure, may I know your reasons, Ambassador?"
"When you see who it is given to you will understand my motives."
She nodded with a half smirk, half smile as she handed the weapon back to him.
Taking the blade and carefully rewrapping it he rose and placed it back on the counter. "I will not keep you any longer Commander. We are finished at this station. Go to the bridge, set a course to Deep Space 5."
"lu'qaH." Na'shara said, emptied her goblet of boodwine and got up, feeling very pleased to be back on a Klingon ship. "Thank you for the blood wine," she said and with long effortless strides, she left him to execute his orders.
Toran watched her leave. He would have to ensure Loktor 'persued' her, and Da'nal's children offered him the prefect opportunity. Grinning to himself as his plan was hatched even before the doors had closed behind her.
