Beg, Steal or Borrow – Before the Journey

Early morning ( academy)…
The Lights was off in class room 1A. A bright blue light from a terminal makes the room look like the moon hitting the night sky. In front of the blue lighted terminal Brian stares at the screen. On the screen the words Sent complete are in bold. “ Finish sending out your data?” A voice says coming from behind Brian. He quickly push’s the end button on the terminal and turns around. “ Hmm? O Josh. Yes I sent it out today. This is my 6th Time trying.” Brian says getting up from the chair and walking out of the room with Josh.
“ Think you will get accepted?” His friend replies. Brian shrugs his shoulders. “ I hope..” the two continue down the hall. Brian and Josh split up since they had to head in different directions. By now the academy had began to open and students has been flocking in. “ Hey you !.” Another guard around the corner yelled. Brian noticing the guard was a high ranking officer he proceed to the guard as fast as he could. “ I got your new orders. You are to stay out side of the Fleet admiral’s office until noon. Then you will escort him outside where he is talking to all the new students. You got that?” Brian nodded.
The high ranking officer takes off and Brian proceeds to the fleet admiral’s office. Within minutes Brian had reached the office and now stands outside the door. The door slides open and the fleet admiral steps out. “ Okay so we have an outside meeting with the new students in a hour?” The fleet admiral says to his assistant on the com. He didn’t notice Brian had started following him. An hour later Brian stands beside the Fleet admiral as he gives his speech to the new students. Clouds had started to slip in and Brian could see lighting from the distance.
Brian walks up to the Fleet admiral. “ Sir sorry to bother you but I think we should end this meeting for now. I can see lighting and it’s getting closer to us.” Brian whispers into his ear. The fleet Admiral gazes out into the sky and in fact sees the lighting for himself. “ Very well. Okay every one I will end this meeting now. Please hurry inside there is a storm approaching. Just remember you’re here to learn not to just mess around.” The fleet admiral motions for every one to start leaving. Brian had escorted him back to his office where Brian was relieved of his shift by another high ranking officer. Brian heads to the door and opens it. The rain beats down in front of him and the lighting cracks like fireworks. “ Sigh another boring day.” Brian takes off to his house.
Afternoon ( 5pm)
Brian’s sister gasped as Brian’s sword flew into the mud. The storm had gotten worse but that didn’t stop Brian and Josh from practicing. The end of Josh’s bat'leth connected to Brian’s face as he went to get up. With blood dripping down his right side of the face Brian trips josh knocking the weapon out of his hand. Brian throws two punches to Josh’s ribs. Not hurting him that much Josh returned the favor knocking Brian off his feet and slamming his head into the mud. Josh pulls out d'k tahg and pushes it toward Brian’s head. Brian quickly acting pulls out KaBar to block Josh.
“ Hey!! You have a phone call Brian.” His sister yells. Brian pushes Josh off him and reclaims to his feet. “ You win.” Brian says as he walks over and picks up his grandfathers sword. The two return to the houses. Brian walk’s into the living room and sits down. “ Computer put call through here please.” A screen pop’s up from the desk. “ Mr.Moxis.” The familiar voice came from the screen. Brian quickly raised to his feet. “ Fleet admiral sir. Is something wrong?” The fleet admiral motioned for Brian to sit back down. “ No no. In fact it’s good news!. I just got down talking to Captain Tasha Tahir. She has accepted you to SB Deep space 5. You leave in the morning aboard the Trinity. It will be a three week journey but I am sure she will give you a warm welcoming once your there. Congratulations.” The screen goes blank and it returns into the desk. Brian sat speechless and finally got to bed about 5 hours after the call.
( Next Morning)
The sun was Bright outside. Brian and his whole family was gathered at the table eating breakfast. “ Why so quiet dear?” His mother called to him. Brian remained quiet. Taking a sip from his glass he said in a low voice “ I am leaving today..” Every one stared at him. “ What do you mean Brother?” his sister said. Brian stood up and walked to the door. “ I have been accepted to Deep space 5. I leave in a few minutes. “ Brian went into his room and gathered his belongings and headed to the dock. No one was around when Brian came out of his room. Perhaps they was angry. !0 minutes later Brian arrives and the dock and checks in.
“Brother!” His sister voice called from behind. Brian turns around to notice his whole family was here along with his best friend. He walks down to them. His sister runs up and gives him a hug while tears came down her face. “ Aw stop that crying. I’ll still find a way to talk to you.” His sister looks up with a sad smile. His mother walks up and hands him two items. One was a picture of every one. The other was his fathers dagger. Brian didn’t know what to say. His family all hugged him. Brian walked over to josh.
“ Well I guess this means no more training for now. “ Brian pulls out his dagger and hands it to josh. “ Make sure he doesn’t get into trouble.” Brian says. Josh takes the knife and places it in his pocket. “ I will man. You try not to die out there.” Josh replies. Brian picks up his bags takes one last look and enters the shuttle to the trinity.
