It had been a while since the Commanding Officer of the USS-Bunker Hill had been relieved of command and his ship had been put into dry dock at DS5. Freeman had been charged with the repairs from the CO himself and knew the ship pretty much inside and out. He had just barley finished all the repairs and was looking over the ship for what he thought would be the last time.

Jarred walked up and spoke, "hey Freeman, feel like taking the old girl for a spin?" he laughed, "I need an engineering team for the recommisioning and inspection trip, you interested?"

Bruce had spent some time talking with the previous captain while he was being held in confinement on DS5. Hearing his story he had gained a respect for the man was surprised that he was going to be able to serve if not just for a few hours aboard the Bunker Hill. "Sure, I think I can spare a engineering team. Most of the station is repaired and anything that isn't my Assistant can take care of. Who else will be coming along?"

"So far just an engineering team and a medic, That new guy umm....Elliot I think, is going to take tactical, and Harris from flight control is going to be helms man, assuming I can get the CO to approve my crew requests." Jarred stated.

"Don't forget me." Claire came around the corner smiling.

"Oh yeah, Lieutenant Mackenzie is coming along for, 'educational' purposes" Jarred half laughed, "not like this is going to be a summer camp or something, maybe."

"Well seeing as there are only four other ships in the fleet that are New Orleans class frigates I can see how it could be educational." Bruce said with a chuckle. "I have never seen the bolt on torpedo cannon being used. I should be able to get a contingent of torpedoes for us to use for a weapons test."

"Ensign Elliott to Lieutenant Freeman," the new Operations Officer's voice flowed out of the communicator.

"Speaking of the new guy." Bruce said to the two there with him.
=/="Go ahead Ensign."=/=

"I was told by the Commander you needed me for something, sir?" Elliott continued. "I'm currently on deck 12, but I can report to you if you'd prefer sir."

"Uh, its not really me who needs you but I don't think its to much of an issue who needs who. It would be best for you to come here." He then remembered the reason they were on board the ship was to run a field test. "Wait, I need to test some thing just stand where you are and I will transport you here."

"Ensign, we're taking the Bunker Hill out for an inspection cruise before a relief crew comes to take her back to Earth, you think you can handle the Tactical duties for a day?" Jarred asked

"Sounds good Wallace," Elliotts voice intoned. "At the Academy I was marked above average on most tactical simulations, so there shouldn't be a problem. One to beam u-er..over."

"Ok, testing now." Bruce said and beamed the ensign over to the Bunker Hill.

"We'll have to figure out the rest of the roster shortly, I think I can get Ms. Perth to take the ops duties. its not like we're going to be in a battle." jarred said with some irony.

"And me? I'm the good looking mascot?" Claire asked, a smile coming across her face.

"I do need a science officer, Guess you'll have to do." Jarred commented.

"Science officer...right..." She replied.

"Hm," Elliott ran a hand across the top of his head, almost as if searching for something. "Always get the feeling being transported does something with my hair," he muttered. He shrugged slightly before looking at his fellow officers. "What is the assignment? I only got a minimal briefing before being...whisked away."

"not much really, we're going to take the Bunker Hill out for an inspection cruise, do a few field tests and return the ship to dry dock before the relief crew comes to take her back to earth." Jarred stated "I'm sure we could all use the down time and break from the routine."

"That's an understatement." Bruce added. "Give me an hour or so to get the torpedoes ready and my crew together and I will be good to get under way."

"I could automate some of the defensive systems and tie the, directly into main Tactical Console," Elliott thought aloud. He frowned. "Although I can't imagine needing all of the phaser banks online for just a short cruise like this."

"All of them yes, at the same time no. Since this is an inspection cruise and she is going back into service I doubt the next captain would like to find out in the middle of a skirmish that not all of his or her phasers aren't all operational." Bruce added almost laughing picturing the face of the unlucky captain.

Elliott chuckled nervously, his face turning slightly crimson. "Of course, Lieutenant," he replied softly, feeling slightly embarrassed. "It makes sense. I'll start a low level diagnosis within the hour, sir. When will we depart?"

"0700 tomorrow morning, assuming I can fill a few other positions before then." Jarred commented.

Elliott nodded, looking around at the other officers.

"lets get a crew and get this bucket of bolts underway!" Jarred exclaimed

"Hey be nice its a newly refitted bucket of bolts." Bruce yelled as he was walking back to the station to replicate the torpedoes.

"I'm going to find a good test area so we don't have any unexpected visitors, you might want to make sure we have a few torpedoes just in case." Jarred said

"Of course never would leave home without some extra."

"good point," Jarred remarked "John, can you be ready by tomorrow morning?"

The other Ensign nodded, a smile on his face growing. "Yes sir, I sure can." One of his first mission! He was excited beyond whatever meagre words he could possibly muster.

"Okay, lets meet again tomorrow morning at 0800, I'll talk to the CO of our final preparations and we'll get underway."
