Eviess felt as though she was turning green. "Urrrrrrggggg," she said running back. "Lets get away from here," she suggested.

Eviess didn't even wait for an answer or look to see if Gwen was with her. With all the coughing, spluttering and generl snottiness the class was in chaos and she slipped out unnoticed.
She'd like the arboretum and thought that if she went there it would be nice and quiet. There were a couple of people in the turbolift when she got there, but they didn't p0ay her any attention. She leaned on the back wall of the car. At each stop more and more people got in - one of them must be going to the arboretum, she reasoned.
Finally the car began to empty, Eviess decided to follow. This must be the right stop if so many people were going there.
She emerged into a milling crowd. She had never seen such a blaze of colour, clothes, skin, scales, hides - it was like the market place in Cariel City only a billion times bigger, brighter and diverser.
"Wow," she said and she walked into the crowd, dodging here and there and occasionally being knocked aside. Everyone seemed to assume she was with someone else.
She stopped to stare at some baubles in a shop window then the scent of freshly baked something caught her nose. Eviess followed trying to find where the delicious scent came from. Sure enough she found herself next to one of the mobile food carts that served this sector of the promenade.
"May I have one?" she asked the giant earred knobbly headed stall holder.
"Shouldn't you be in school?" it asked revealing a set of sharp spikey yellowed teeth.
Eviess jumped back, "I was only asking," she said hesitantly, "I thought they'd be noice to eat."
"I like to eat skinny little Vulcans who play truant from school," the stall holder replied gnashing his teeth at her.
Eviess hesitated, looked at him again then ran weaving wildly through the crowds. It must have been ten minutes before she stopped and when she did she had absolutely no idea where she was.
I'm not talking to anyone else, she thought. If there were things here that ate children ... she swallowed, What if there are more of them?
