D'Liin, en route back to Deep Space Five, had decided now was as good a time as any to let his future father in law know the new reality they would all be living in. Opening a subspace channel he smirked a little when he saw the Romulan Imperial crest replaced by the sleepy face of Admiral R'Vek tr'Khellian, next to Isha the most smug of all those bastards. He straightened his suit and cheerfully announced, "I just wanted to let you know, since I'm sure you've already heard, that you're not losing a daughter, Admiral, you're gaining a son. One a damn sight better than anything that little gutter snipe would've ever drawn on her own."

R'Vek had indeed heard and had been expecting this call, hoping to at least verbally tear this wretched little nobody a new one. However, with Eleni asleep beside him the option to simply rip into this man the way he deserved didn't exist, not yet anyway. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration and shook his head, "What do you hope to gain from this, D'Lin?"

"It's D'LIIN, Admiral." He replied, "You should get used to pronouncing it right, if only for my bride to be's sake."

"All right, look, tell me what it is you want." R'Vek groaned, he wasn't in the mood to play games with this toad, "I've got more than adequate resources to pay you off and have done with you."

"You've got more than adequate resources to grant me a better benefit than being a member of your house?" D'Liin laughed, "I think not, Admiral. Besides, you're frequently out of favor due to your... dalliances with the lower primates."

"Let me tell you something, boy." R'Vek snarled, "If you are ever to disrespect my wife or any of my family again, I will show you a whole new definition of the word suffering. Do you understand?"

"Okay, dad, it's cool." D'Liin laughed mockingly, "You'll get used to the new situation. Just know this, Lady Lliar backs me totally in this, so, if you want to continue enjoying the lifestyle you've become accustomed to....."

"If you want to continue to enjoy living you better keep a respectful tongue in your head, boy." R'Vek cut him off, "And learn to mind the time where you're calling. R'Vek out."

D'Liin threw his head back and laughed hard, knowing that the old man was frustrated and powerless and now at his mercy, as was the rest of the halfbreed's family, "I should've done this months ago!" He gloated to himself, this was panning out far better than he ever imagined possible.
