ON:

Malak sat at his desk, his legs up on the desk as he sat back. There was a small frown as he went over the
drulling and dull data infront of him. he really couldn't focus for the moment. He slowly reached up and tapped his compin as he thoughts continued to wander.

=/= "Malak to Atlana Durak.." =/=

Atlana had been working in the back of her shop, there were things about the attack on the Embassy she wanted to examine and review. When Lieutenant Muz voice penetrated her thoughts, she touched the compin on her chest with a smirk. =/= Hello, Lieutenant. To what do I owe this enchanted surprise?"=/= her voice was calm and soft as always.

=/= "Well..Right now I am on duty so this is obviously a very important message as the Starfighter Executive Officer.." =/=

Malak respondeds with a faint smirk as he looked over his report. He hit a few buttons, approving the next schedule and then slowing setting down the padd. His eyes looking forward as he slowly began to speak again.

=/= "What are you up to right now? Anything fun? I felt a little tipsy after having morning breakfast with you - You didn't happen to get my access codes or anything right?" =/=

Atlana stopped what she was doing. =/= "Are you implying that i accepted your invitation to breakfast to steal your access to the stations mainframe, Starfighter Executive Officer Muz?"=/= she didn't know if she was insulted or amused. Ok, she was more insulted.

=/= "No, I am implying that I have such a weak consitution that orange juice could make me tipsy and I could give you the access codes, Atlana. I can't really hold my alcohol well." =/= The man could hear the annoyance in her tone and did try to lighten the mood. =/= "Oh come on.. It was funny - atleast a little bit right?" =/=

Atlana didn't really get human humor sometimes, =/="No, Malak,"=/= She used his first name for the first time to see how it sounded off her lips and decidedly liked it better than Lieutenant. =/= "You did not endanger your career. And yes, it was a little funny." =/= She pushed back from the information in front of her, provided by the cardassian government. Most of which was pigeon holed, but she was used to that. Later on she had plans to visit security and get what she would hoped would fill in the gaps. =/="Perhaps one night I will introduce you to Cardassian alcohol and I will attempt to steal more then your access codes, hmm?"=/= Atlana was teasing this time, but she wasn't entirely sure it would come off sounding like such.

Thank God for being a Trill! Though he did probably hang around to many Terrans.. their humor was contagious. Insidious.. like rootbeer. He smiled faintly, even a heck of reddening to his features. =/= "Promises.. Promises.." =/= He offered as he looked back to his padd and began tapping at it. He sighed as information on the newest starfighter came up. =/= "Atlana.." =/= A soft pregnant pause, =/= "I know it was a while back - but did you serve during the Dominion War? Feel free to tell me to change the topic." =/=

Atlana lifted her head wondering where this line of questioning was going. =/= "I've been in the services of the Order since I was 18 years old, Malak." =/= there was a bitterness in her tone but yes, she had been she had served through the Bajoran conflict and through the Dominion war, it wasn't that long ago. And Cardassians age well or so she'd been told. She hung on the silence for a moment. =/="What is on your mind?"=/= she knew there was most likely a reasoning behind the question. She'd admit to as much as she could to him.

=/= "Yea.. Me to..well..for the most part." =/= Malak offered as well. He sat back, =/= "You ever think about it? I'm not asking specifics.." =/= He looks at the Padd and his face saddens as he lets the thoughts and memories continue to go through.

She smirked at his comment, =/="More often then I such I admit."=/= She told him. =/="I was trained to not ask questions follow orders, complete assignment and move on." =/= Atlana wouldn't say she'd ever felt guilty for the kill record she had, or for the things she'd done. But she had her doubts about the justifications of it. =/="I have never lost sleep over the wars i have served in, if that what you mean. But yes, i think on my actions often."=/=

=/= "I know that Cardassian's are made of pretty stout stuff.." =/= Malak offers softly to her as she relates her experience. He smiles faintly, =/= "Rumor has it your educational system is one of the hardest but most stout in the qaudrant. " =/= He looked at the schematics and then chirped back, =/= "So are we at the point that I can ask you what your wearing or is that to forward?" =/= He jokes back to her.. Did he really randomly contact her just to chat about innane things?

Altana's melodious laughter could be heard through the com, softly and pleasantly enough. =/= "you can ask, anything you like, Malak. I cannot say you'll get the answer you hope for"=/= she teased back. =/="Did you truly contact me just to talk through a boring shift of reports and paperwork or was there something more directly on your mind?" =/=

=/= "Well.. I'm either A.. Trying to cultivate our friendship B... doing really poorly at initiating a relationship by which you become my girlfriend or C.. Working on both for my book about Trill/Cardassian love that beats the odds.." =/= He softly chuckles and his voice becomes a bit more soft, =/=" I really just wanted to talk to you Atlana. I was bored and you came up on my mind. I have so many things going on now a days.. It's nice to just relax. You know? If you're busy, I totally understand."

Atlana pushed the reports aside. =/="it's nothing that cannot wait." =/= She didn't know what a girlfriend was she'd never heard the word, and friendships were less frequent then enemies or targets but she was starting to adjust to civilian life. She was grinning at the thought of getting to talk to him some more so it wasn't a bad thing whatever the reason was. =/="I am glad I was on your mind, than. Thank you for breakfast, i had a wonderful time."=/=

=/= "Me to.. Even if I was an idiot at the end." =/= Malak offers with a soft chuckle,=/= "I am just glad that the others weren't there to hear it. You don't make mistakes in the Starfighter Corp - you never live it down. On that topic, when is the next time you are free? You had plans .. was it tonight or last night or when?" =/=

=/="You weren't an idiot, I misunderstood your intent. I won't tell a soul I know how mistakes can humiliate you in front of your peers."=/= she had been in a class in the order and had failed to meet expectations, needless to say she repeated the most brutal class in the Obsidian Orders required training. One of a few to take it twice and the first to live through it. =/="I am free tonight," =/= She told him with a little eager excitement in her voice. =/="Have you been to Endeavor yet?" =/=

=/= "No.. I haven't.. The only ships I have been in are seated for one person - unless I am feeling really cozy." =/= A soft chuckle. He approves the final draft and sends it to the Commander, =/= "Are you allowed on it? Asking me out on a date, Atlana?" =/=

She chuckled softly =/="I meant the new restaurant on the promenade."=/= She thought for a moment. =/= "Is that nontraditional for a female to ask a male out for your kind? In cardassian culture the women are considered the more educated and higher skilled of the genders. We usually run the households and make the decisions."=/=

=/= "I know.." =/= Malak answers gently to her pointing out Cardassian culture, =/= "To answer your question on if it is non traditional.. That answer is complicated. There are two societies on Trill. The unjoined are generally more traditional to Federation standards. You will see Male dominance more then not. Those of us who have been joined and have seen 5 or 6 lifetimes are more open." =/= There's a frown and a soft sigh,=/= "So Atlana.. There is one thing.." =/=

She listened to his silence for a moment or two. =/=" Go on Malak, whatever you need to ask or say.. "=/=

=/= "I have had two different life times of fighting Cardassians and Cardassia.. This host and a former host that assisted the Maquis and the Bajoran resistance.." =/= Malak sighs softly,=/= "It's not a problem for me.. but I didn't want you to read it on a file and thought I was hiding anything." =/=

Atlana was surprised at his honesty, but it didn't change anything about how she saw him. =/="Thank you for being up front with me."=/= She told him as a soft sigh escaped her parted lips. =/="But, those hosts made decisions that you aren't responsible for, and I don't hold it against you for having hosts that were opposite my planet or my peoples causes. We aren't perfect, and Cardassians are interstellar bullies. I will be the first to admit that about us. If you don't mind, I don't mind." =/=

A moment of relief when the woman states she is fine with , =/= "Good.. I get off in about 3 or 4 hours.. Pick me up then? You can even pay - I've almost run out of Federation Credits.." =/= He offers to her - Cultural ideals being met and all. Malak smiled faintly at the Padd.

She grinned. =/= "Just don't be one of those men that keeps a lady waiting." =/=
