Chief Ayers looked down the hall way. The one advantage they had was it was a dead ended hall, one way in or out, except for the Jefferies tube that only went up one deck. He looked over at the cadet; she was busy trying too adjust her body armor.
"Cadet, you ever do any counter-boarding simulations at the academy?" the Chief spoke calmly
"Just the normal drills during the term at the marine barracks, nothing else. Why?" she asked almost puzzled
"My last boarding action was during the war with the Klingons before the dominion war. That was a messy affair blades and disruptor fire, this will be worse. The Romulans aren't exactly known for their mercy when they board a ship or station." the chief spoke calmly
"Sir do you think we'll be a target if the station is boarded?"
"Don't know cadet, this is a new class of station, the anti-boarding measures have never been used for real. When I was on the Melbourne all we had were emergency bulk heads and force fields, slowed them down, didn't stop them it took the marines and security 40 minutes to contain the boarding parties. Ensign Wallace, he was a Lieutenant back then, lead a squad of marines for one final push against the Klingons, I lead a NCO squad of security and we used some extremely unorthodox tactics to push them off the ship."
"That’s why you want the Flash bangs and smoke grenades’?"
"Damn Kid your smart, Flash bangs can cause some serious sensory effects, its like being hit with a phaser on a heavy stun, combine it with smoke and you've got enough confusion you can push any boarding party back even cause a full blown retreat." the chief grinned at that idea
"Then why the phaser rifles?"
"Kid, too many darn questions! we're at the point where its shoot first don't ask any questions, if it looks like we're gonna get over run get too the Jefferies tube and get up too the next deck, I'll use our little booby-trap and get in there myself, ok?"
Martina nodded, and looked at the rifle, she looked at the engraving on it ===MK 17 PHASER RIFLE=== She just hoped that the station wouldn't be boarded, and she wondered if she was going too make it out of here alive.
