*Petro made her way to the counselor’s office. There was so much on her mind and though she normally would not have gone to a person in such a profession, she felt that she had no other place to turn. Her friend was gone and Tahir was away. After the battle she felt alone again. At least the firefight and her taking the Tactical station provided some distraction. Now that was over, and though there were a considerable amount of things to be done, her mind was once again freed to remember her losses.

She pressed the chime on the counselor’s door and waited. Would she have time to see her? Petro thought. There was a part of her that hoped she wouldn't and a part of her that desperately needed to talk.

Claire was wishing for Zorana to return, she had never had someone die in her arms, never had to tell someone else that their loved one was gone...Claire came around the corner and saw Petro standing at her office door. "Petro? Is there something I can do for you?" She asked.

The quartermaster had been staring at the door, lost in thought, when the Counselor startled her. She jumped a little and turned to Claire. "Maybe." she said, sheepishly.

"Then come into my office and we can talk." She said opening the door and letting Petro in before herself.

Petro stepped through the doors and stood in the middle of the room, waiting to be given permission to speak, sit or something. She wasn't comfortable at all and she kept shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She watched at Claire, who seemed to have something on her mind as well, went through her own routine of settling in for her next 'patient'.

"Petro, please sit down, is there anything I can get for you?" She asked sensing how uncomfortable she was.

Petro looked at her and shook her head. "No thank you." she said as she sat down. "I'm not sure where to start." she admitted.

"Start at the beginning, I don't have any other appointments scheduled for the moment...my afternoon is yours." She smiled.

Petro nodded, looking for the underlying meaning in the Counselor's words. "The beginning was a long time ago." She said. "I don't think that would be a good place to start."

"Then start where you feel more comfortable. " She said encouragingly.

"I suppose...well... I think it's because...The battle was hard, wasn't it?" she asked, not sure how to put into words the myriad of emotions that she felt.

"It was difficult...Petro, what happened?" She asked concerned with the bombardment of emotions coming off Petro.

"I worked the tactical station." she said. "I didn't do as well as someone trained in that position might have done but I think I did okay. Rakka would have....she...." she choked on the words, tears welling in her eyes. "She...would have..." she couldn't bear it and the tears fell from her eyes. Petro cupped her face in her hands, sobbing.

"Petro..." She grabbed a tissue from the table and put into the woman's hand. Claire knew exactly what she was going through but how could she help Petro if she couldn't help herself?

"There is no apologizing in the office. You express whatever emotions you are feeling. If it is easier for your to write it out...I have a blank PADD..." She offered.

Petro shook her head. "I don't think I could write." she said and held out her hand. It shook and wavered from the emotions that she felt that she could not hold it steady. She clenched her fist, but even that was weakened by her emotional state.

"Then we will take this one step at a time."

Petro nodded. "I've never been close to anyone before I met her." she said. "And now she's gone."
"You two had some good times, didn't you?" She encouraged.

Petro nodded. She could remember their first swim together and how frightened Petro was. She remembered how she had put the swimming suit on backwards but how Rakka didn't chide her for it but gently informed her of the proper way to wear it.

After the swim, they had that encounter in the hall with those miscreants and she remembered how she became so angry at how they treated Rakka. The disrespect was too much and she attacked them.

"She was more gentle than anyone knew." she said.

"I only had the privilege of meeting Rakka once. It was during the stress tests that Zorana and I were administering."

"Stress test?" Petro asked.

"We were seeing who was at a higher risk of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."

"Oh." Petro said, not understanding. "How did she do?"

"That is confidential information Petro. I cannot tell you. I'm sorry. Tell me more about her."

"I understand." Petro said. "Rakka would have told me if she had the chance. She left too soon. We didn't have enough time to... she... I..." the tears began again and she stood. "I'm sorry, I can't do this right now." she said, stepping towards the door.

"Petro please sit down. You are not in any condition to go back to work, stay and collect yourself."

The J'Naii shook her head. "I can't. There's too much to be done. I'm needed elsewhere." she said, taking a deep breath and standing as tall as her small frame would allow. "I'm okay."

"I will come and see you later then." She nodded and stood meeting Petro at the door.

"Thank you." Petro said and left, tissue in hand, for something to get her mind off of her friends.
