Starfleet Academy
“Come on Jason, let’s Kirk it”, his friend Benny said standing in the doorway to Jason’s room.

Jason moved so his friend could come in. Luckily his roommate, who hated Benny was gone so there could be some relative quiet.

“Kirk it?”, Jason asked.

“Yeah, the finest example of a Starfleet officer a cadet could have”, Benny said with a laugh. “After all, he has the most demerits of a cadet and the number of review panels he faced, what’s a few drinks?”

Jason rolled his eyes. Benny was part Risian, so a few drinks for him also led to all sorts of shenanigans.

“We’ve got exams this week”, Jason replied shaking his head. “And there is curfew this week.”

“Look, we are third years so the chance they boot us out is small”, Benny came back. “we’ll be back by curfew, and your uncle is Assistant Commandant of the Academy. It will be fine.”

“Back by curfew”, Jason said. “Promise if I start dragging your butt out of what ever dive we are in, you won’t get pissed and hit me like last time?”

“Promise”, Benny said. “Plus, Tang, Berry, and Janice will be with us. They can help you.”

Some Dive, Way Past Curfew
Jason hadn’t realized it, but he had been a bit more stressed about exams than he thought. This led to him and the rest of his friends having way too much to drink. Jason had always been the reserved one amongst them so he usually kept them out of trouble, but not this night.

Jason was kissing some girl, who he didn’t know the name of, in between taking shots on the domjat table. At that point two security officers walked in. Jason looked up and the part of him that was barely sober saw they were armed; they definitely were not there for a drink.

It took a few moments, but the officers rounded him and his friends up.

“Gentleman”, the guard said. “Captain Goodwin would like to see you. We are here to give you a ride.”

Starfleet Academy, Assistant Commandant’s Office

“But sir”, Benny started.

‘Shut up Benny’, Jason thought.

“We are just taking lessons from Captain Kirk.”

“Oh, do tell, cadet”, Jason’s uncle/god-father said.

“Well, he has the most demerits in Academy history”, Benny replied, starting his ‘sales-pitch’. “He cheated on one of the final exams of Academy. He’s been investigated for violating the Prime Directive more than anyone else, and he was demoted from Admiral to Captain. What we’ve done pales in comparison. We just needed to blow off some steam, exams are stressful.”

Jason had to hold back a groan. They were in for it.

“Well Cadet”, Jason’s uncle said. “You make some pretty logical points. So, since Kirk is your example, to get you all closer to his record, I am giving you all five demerits. Then, you all will be on cleaning duty in the shuttle bay for a month. Since the semester is over in a week. This carries over to your senior year. Finally, as Captain Kirk in his violation of rules, also tended to prevent catastrophes at the very last minute, you all have fifteen less minutes to take all your exams in. See if you can pull it off at the last minute, like your hero. Do you understand me?”

“Yes, sir”, they all said, knowing his decision was final and there were no arguments left to be made lest the punishment get worse.

“And finally, cadet Terrance”, Goodwin said to their friend Tang shaking his head. The next time you sneak out, don’t bring your communicator with you. If you are going to break the rules on my watch, please don’t be an idiot about it. Dismissed.”
